Shopping - there are many excellent places to shop in Vancouver.  Here are a few and their locations.
Park Royal - West Vancouver
Metrotown - Burnaby
Pacific Centre - Vancouver
Granville Island - Vancouver, a more artistic open-air setting
Robson Street - the most famous shopping street in downtown Vancouver

Skiing or Snowboarding - there are three mountains in the Greater Vancouver Area and the world famous Whistler/Blackcomb resort is only a bus ride away.
Grouse Mountain - with a cable car, great views, lots of activities, and access by public transit, this is a must-visit place for everyone
Mount Seymour - great views and great snowboarding, and tubing for the non-skiers.
Cypress Mountain - excellent skiing and, as an alternative, snowshoeing
Whistler/Blackcomb - the world famous resort and the site of most of the events of the 2010 Winter Olympics.
